About this item
This is my handcrafted hamsa hand pattern dish embellished with red iron-oxide. It can be used as a jewellery or trinket dish, incense burner holder, soap dish or to keep your keys in one place. Size: 15cm length x 11.5cm wide approx. The Hamsa hand is an ancient talisman that symbolises protection, blessings, and good fortune. It has been created using the slab work method and embossed with a handcrafted Hamsa wooden stamp, the excess clay has been carefully trimmed. It has been moulded in a bowl to create its curves and allowed to dry throughly before being bisque fired to 1000C. After a gentle sanding red iron-oxide has been applied with a brush it is then sponged off to enhance and define the Hansa pattern and fired in the kiln to 1180C. Self-adhesive cork has been applied to the underside of the Hamsa hand to protect surfaces. Due to the handmade nature and natural materials each piece is unique with subtle variations in size, shape, and finish.
