This freeform elongated oval ish pendant features a piece of vintage fordite bezel set in a reversible sterling silver setting. The fordite has particularly intricate patterns in a muted colour palette, the 'front' has bands of sparkly gold, white and red on a green back ground whilst the 'back' is more striped with blue and grey added to the colour palette. Measures approx 55mm (inc bail) by 25mm and comes with a 18in sterling silver chain (the bail is big enough that you could swap it onto a ribbon or leather cord if you wanted to). This pendant is ideal for any one who likes the unusual or things a bit retro and vintage.
What is fordite? It is layer upon layer of cured car paint that built up in old spray booths at car plants - in this case Vauxhall's plant at Ellesmere Port on the Wirral. The colours are consistent with Vauxhall Vivas from around 1974 (flamenco red, crystal green and gold starfire according to the colour chart I found online) so this would make a great gift for someone who had a Vauxhall back in the day. Fordite of this age and location is rare and due to changes in how cars are painted fordite of all types is getting much harder to source. I have quite a stash of different fordite so if you love the idea of it but not this piece drop me a message.
Comes gift boxed.
