This stained glass polar bear is crafted from wispy white glass that catches the light in soft, cloud like swirls. Its tiny pink nose and belly add a touch of warmth and personality, giving the bear a gentle, almost whimsical charm. Each piece of glass is hand cut, foiled and soldered using the traditional Tiffany technique, creating clean lines and a smooth finish. The bear hangs beautifully in a window, where the subtle variations in the white glass glow with shifting light throughout the day. It’s a small, characterful suncatcher that brings a quiet sense of calm and kindness to any space. The finished item measures approximately 11 cm high and 10 cm wide. It and can be hung by the hook (not visible in the photographs but is on the back of the item) or displayed on a stand. To display the glass to its best, light from behind. The bear also looks great on the Christmas tree. Please ensure that you place (and secure) your glass in a safe location; if the piece falls it is likely to break. The item is not a toy. The idea for this stained glass polar bear came from a small illustration on children’s pyjamas — one of those simple, charming drawings that lingers in your memory. I loved its softness and warmth, and I wanted to capture that feeling in glass. Translating it into stained glass allowed me to keep the gentle expression while adding light, colour, and a sense of permanence. It’s a piece rooted in nostalgia and mindful making, created to bring a little glow to any space.
This item is glass and therefore breakable. Please handle with care and secure the item to a fixed point. All edges have been ground to remove sharpness. Consider how you display the glass and that it is in a safe location away from wagging dog tails or small hands! Lead solder has been used but this is very low risk. However, I always wash my hands after handling to reduce the risk to zero.
