We’ve always been big fans of all things colourful here at Casa Elf. Handcrafted wooden items are a delight to use in your daily life. So much more rewarding than their metal and plastic counterparts. This wonderful palette knife is very much a special item for the avid baker. How cool to have a unique baking tool.

Full description
A large, curvy Cherry wood palette knife/spreader for baking and spreading on a larger scale- perfect for the baker wishing special and unique equipment. The handle is coloured with a base coat/collar of providence (turquoise) and a top coat of willow of milk paints, from the Old Fashioned Milk Paint range. This creates a lovely contrast between the warm cherry wood and the paint. The straight continuous grain of the cherry wood chosen for this piece allows it to be super thin in the blade but maintain strength.
Hand made using traditional tools including axe, knife and drawknife. This palette spreader has been split from a fresh cherry log, the shape drawn on, before being axed out and then finish carved by knife. Thus, the finished item shows the lovely smooth facets from these sharp tools and no sanding is used. Once dry it gets a final carve and the stunning handle colour is applied using food safe milk paint, and then the wood grain and milk paint is enhanced and sealed using organic food grade linseed oil. My elf hat makers logo is also burned into the handle. The log used for making the spreader, was locally sourced from an arborist.
Your item will be posted in environmentally friendly, recycled and plastic-free packaging which can be put into either composting or your paper recycling bin.
Caring for your spreader- Hand wash only with warm soapy water, rinse and leave to air dry. Avoid long soaks in water or cleaning in a dishwasher.
