Upcycled sterling silver ball earring studs. Made from my discarded sterling silver scraps. I heat the bits of left-over silver up into little molten balls, let them cool, and solder sterling silver ear posts to the back before giving a high shine polish. I love the varying and imperfect texture of them, and the differing sizes. And they look like little planets! I choose approximately 3/4mm size balls for the ear studs shown in this listing. They come displayed on an earring card and nestled in one of my branded pillow boxes. Posted in a postal box, 1st class large letter post.

Made from my discarded sterling silver scraps.

It’s always bothered me, all my scraps of silver, the waste! I worked as a Fair Trade Designer for over a decade and it was a big part of my role, to be mindful about anything from paper waste to the companies carbon footprint. We developed a lot of ranges from recycled materials in India, Bangladesh, Bali and Nepal from plastic bags, bottles and packaging to the re-using of production waste and factory off-cuts. I’ve often just stared at my off cuts of silver and wondered, what could I do with it short of having it melted down into recycled silver to then re-work? Here is the result in these earrings, using my discarded silver. It's a start. And I love them.
