One of a kind, life-size and hyper-realistic woollen Lesser Sand Plover, with beautifully blended wool colours and hand-crafted flight feathers. He has wool-wrapped wire legs and a sculpted wool beak. Based on my clients amazing photo captures, he has a quirky and utterly adorable pose looking right towards the viewer. He is 19.5 cms long and 12.5 cms tall, has twinkling glass eyes and a huge portion of character.

Welcome to my shop full of needle felt birds, artfully made in wool and natural fibres. I am busy felting new birds and making plans for some exciting new collections for 2026. I only add finished birds to my Folksy shop, so you can rest assured they can be posted within 24 hours of ordering and will fly safely to you or a gift recipient within a few days. You can cancel the order and get a refund from the maker within 14 days of receipt, provided the item has not been used. Faulty items can be returned within six months of payment being made.

This is why I love taking commissions as a creator. I had never heard of or seen a Lesser Sand Plover until this commission brought them to my attention. They are not in Europe, let alone the UK. Look at those gorgeous oranges and ambers on the head and shoulder, the gorgeous green/grey legs and the stunning dappled shades of the flight feathers. What a beauty!
