Made in Wirral by me, Alison Bailey Smith. My work is definitely a by-product of the 21st century & I have been described as a 'techno -cannibal' by BBC journalist Clare English. My career has spanned 3 decades and three different countries since leaving Edinburgh College of Art in 1990. The motivation behind my work comes from being the child of post war parents, Scottish thriftiness and an avid watcher of Blue Peter! My need to re-use, re-develop and re-create can be seen in my use of ordinary materials in my creations.

Full description
Fluted pot from recycled materials by ABScraft - wire reclaimed from televisions,
plastic wrappers from bags of coffee beans/bunches of flowers, plastic netting from tangerines, and bought urquoise wire. Each coil pot is made with no plan and evolves as I construct and as the raw materials present themselves. Each piece is made by hand and many hours going into their creation. I use textile techniques in metal ton construct the structure and "textile" at the same time. 11 cm x 11 cm
There is only one of these in the world...each one created is different to the next.
Designed by Alison Bailey Smith in Birkenhead
