Description

An eating/ desert spoon handcarved from silver birch in the traditional way using knives and hand tools. A unique spoon, ideal as a personal gift which can be used every day and should, if cared for, last many years. The spoon is about 7 inches long and has a unique, chipcarved decorative handle which I painted with artist's acrylic to add a splash of colour to the table. Finished with culinary grade linseed oil.

As always.... just rinse and wipe to best care for a wood spoon. Don't leave it soaking in hot dishwater or destroy it in a dishwasher machine...it doesn't enjoy or need such zeal. Every now and then (I do mine about once a month when in daily use), rub some oil into it when it has dried to replenish the wood. Walnut or culinary linseed are the best as they dry hard in the grain, thereby protecting the spoon wood. The wood will darken up over time and take on a friendly familiar personality. Almost as much fun as a cat!
