About Studio Edefyn

Studio Edefyn

From Wales to the World.....celebrating artisanal craftsmanship (and sheep)!

I'm surrounded by sheep in Wales, so it was inevitable that I would learn to use wool in order to offer a selection of unique artisan textiles, textile supplies and handspun yarns.
However, I wanted my goods to have a 'green' and 'ethical' edge, whilst remaining affordable. My materials are sourced from designer surplus, factory seconds, textile waste and British made product (direct from locally sourced sheep farms). Once I have the fibres, I then pair and tailor designs around the materials available.

Each piece in my shop is a labour of love, hand crafted in mid-Wales solely by me. Traditional and detail intensive processes such as hand dying, carding fibres, spinning, deconstruction, unravelling, hand weaving and knitting mean every piece takes between 10 and 100 hours to make, resulting in a unique garment - or yarn - each time, with a slight variation in colour and feel adding to its individuality. More than just creating beautiful garments, the brand creates playful experiences that encourage and champion social and environmental change.

Whilst I make all of my items from the fibre that comes my way I take the inspiration for my finished products from nature..especially the changing seasons, my love of the Welsh landscape in which I live.

All my handmade items are available to purchase via my Folksy shop. My yarns are not repeatable, and so once they are gone they are gone!
