My name is Gordon McLeman. I've had a varied career, from Geophysicist to Tax Specialist and I’m now a full-time self-taught artist living in Aberdeen, Scotland.
My interest in watercolour painting began back in the early 1990s when a spell working in Cornwall, England, gave me the inspiration to get started. Since retiring from my job in 2017 I now paint whenever I can, and thanks mainly to my online shop my original works and prints can now be found in private collections across the UK, North America, Continental Europe, Australia and India.
I paint whatever takes my fancy at but am happiest with sea-scapes and landscapes and, more recently, stylised line portraits. I mostly work in pen and watercolour, in a range of styles depending on my mood at the time. I always use Winsor & Newton artists quality watercolour paints and Bockingford or Langton paper. Recently I've been experimenting with digital art on my iPad.
I print my own work on a Canon printer using genuine Canon inks and Canon 260gm/m2 Pro Luster paper. This combination delivers exceptional long lasting prints with a beautiful lustre finish for great colour saturation and a soft feel, and will look great with a mount and framed in any environment.
I can supply my originals and prints framed for UK customers. I use either moulded black, rough-textured white or smooth natural wood effect frames with 'snow-white' or 'ice-white' mounts, depending on what I think looks best for the piece. These are the names given by my mount supplier. I would say that 'ice-white' is a bright pure white whereas 'snow-white' is slightly off-white.
