I'm Emlyn, the Cornish Spoon carver. I am continually evolving as a wood worker, experimenting with shape and form but always governed by the wood itself. Every one of my spoons and utensils is individually made with quality and functionality in mind.
My spoons, utensils and keepsakes are crafted by hand from responsibly resourced timber (and locally-sourced wood wherever possible) in Cornwall, using traditional hand tools. Spoons are finished with a protective coat of Linseed or TopOil, based on natural plant oils and waxes (sunflower oil, soya oil, thistle oil) which are both food safe for humans, animals and plants and certified as suitable for use on children‘s toys.
I use Milk Paint on painted handles. Milk paint is an ancient formula containing ingredients that pre-date the use of petrochemicals and is made from all natural earth materials. A similar paint was used to decorate objects discovered in the tombs of the Pharaohs. It is environmentally safe, non-toxic and entirely solvent free.
