Two gentle badgers have emerged from their sett and are snuffling around the foliage in the woodland. I couldn't resist making this quilt purely in black and white; the different monochrome print fabrics create the different tones of the design.
The panel is stitched in stained glass patchwork; the background and foliage patches are set off by outlines of black bias binding, and the badgers themselves are edged in off-white for contrast. I found a lovely black-and-white leaf print for the border strips, and the cornerpieces are leaf-shaped patches. The whole quilt is backed and bound in plain black.
A hidden casing at the top back of the quilt will hold your own batten/hanging pole.
The quilt will be sent to you cushioned with reusable bubble-wrap, and packed into a large recyclable jiffy bag. Hanging pole and fixings are not included.
Size: 25in (64cm) square
Badgers apparently get their name from the ancient English word bageard, meaning 'badge' – presumably referring to the white stripe the classic badger has down the top of its head. An ancient name for the badger is brock, immortalised in various English placenames such as Brockenhurst and Brockhampton.
This quilt is part of my Enchanted Forest collection. I’ve also created collections called Enchanted Ocean, Enchanted Christmas, and Enchanted Garden – you can see some of those other designs in the other items on my shop page.
