St Clements Quilt

St Clements Quilt
Love this

The nursery rhyme Oranges and Lemons was the inspiration behind this quilt – and I’ve also added limes to complete the citrus family!

The design is created fabric fusing, with the shapes edged by machine blanket-stitch to create a folk-art feel. Of course the different fruits and their leaves created the colourscheme, and I used lots of cotton batik fabrics to build in texture. The quilt is edged and backed in green.

A hidden casing at the top back will hold your own batten/hanging pole.

The quilt will be sent to you cushioned with reusable bubble-wrap, and packed into a cardboard box (recycled when possible). Hanging pole and fixings are not included.

Size: 25in (63cm) square

This quilt is a celebration of London and its churches; it also relates to a famous London resident, Nell Gwynne. From an early age she was an orange-girl, selling fruit to the disreputable clientele of London theatres. She graduated to appearing on stage, where she caught the eye of Charles II and became his mistress for many years.
