I'm a quilter, textile artist, designer and author – and am SO fortunate that I can earn my living doing what I love best!

Hello craft-loving people; my name is Gail Lawther, and I'm a textile artist and teacher. I was taught to sew when I was very young by my mother, (who also became a quilter later in life), and have always loved playing around with colours, textures and patterns, fabrics and thread. I travel round the UK, and occasionally beyond, doing talks and teaching workshops, and I also create pieces on commission – particularly, large colourful banners for churches and schools.
I live on the south coast of England with my husband Chris, a graphic designer, and we produce and publish our own books and patterns as well as occasionally producing books for other craftspeople. We love travelling and exploring, at home and abroad, and also walking by the beautiful seashore, rivers and hills near where we live. We're very involved in our local church, and we love entertaining; one of our favourite activities is having get-togethers with friends where we can share good food and wine, and talk about anything and everything.
