The Welsh people have a long tradition of exquisite hand quilting, and their wholecloth quilts often include hearts – motifs which generally only appear on wedding or anniversary quilts in other parts of Britain.

Beautiful traditional Welsh motifs decorate this quilt; the four main squares feature feathered hearts – a classic quilting design from the country – and the cream sashing strips are quilted with lovespoons, that most delightful of Welsh traditions.
I used a variegated batik fabric in soft colours for the large and small squares, and cream cotton for the sashing strips; the binding is in a soft turquoise green. The patches are machine-pieced, then hand-quilted throughout.
A hidden casing at the top back will hold your own batten/hanging pole – but this quilt would also make a lovely lap quilt for tucking under on those cold winter evenings, too!
The quilt will be sent to you cushioned with reusable bubble-wrap, and packed into a cardboard box (recycled when possible). Hanging pole and fixings are not included.
