A castle fit for an undersea king! This fairytale home is created in stained glass patchwork using gold bias binding and bright print, shaded and batik fabrics, and embellished with loads of sealife shapes.

Where else would the king of the oceans live than in a sandcastle? Mottled batiks create the sand and the seabed, and the watery surroundings are suggested by a shaded cotton fabric; I used another shaded fabric for the windows and the grand entrance. The shapes of the bright trees in Neptune’s garden echo the spiral forms of shells, and scallop-shell motifs create the cornerpieces. The borders are a swirly pink print, set off by a paler pink outside binding.

Remember the way you decorated your childhood sandcastles with shells and pebbles? I’ve done the same thing with buttons and beads in the forms of shells, starfish, crabs, lobsters and sand-dollars. Lines of machine quilting create ripples around the sandcastle, and lines of machine quilting in gold thread add texture to the cornerpieces.

A hidden casing at the top back of the quilt will hold your own batten/hanging pole.

The quilt will be sent to you cushioned with reusable bubble-wrap, and packed into a large jiffy bag. Hanging pole and fixings are not included.
