Mono is a collection of simple forms decorated with white on matt black clay. I loved the challenge of limiting myself to one colour only, and echoed the simplicity with linear motifs incised into the white vertical panels and bands. Interiors are glazed with iron-rich glazes which fire to muted shades. The designs are influenced by the 1930s designs of Edinburgh Weavers, a leading modernist textile company of the time.

Full description
A smart and stylish matt black ceramic handmade vase with half-disc handles and white sgraffito panels with a different design on each side. The vase looks lovely filled with white flowers such as daisies or small lilies. Sgraffito is a method of incising a design through a surface layer of colour to reveal the clay beneath. I use black stoneware clay and then applied white panels back and front. On the white background, I incised twining lines from top to bottom on both panels – so that you can show off whichever side you like best! The outside of the piece is the matt finish of natural clay, while inside I glazed to give a rich shiny surface with blues and rusty brown tones which you can see on one of the images. This vase is called Anya, 14.5 cms tall and 7 cms diameter at the widest part of the oval. All my pieces are different, so each has a name. Underneath you'll find my signature potter's mark of a swallow.
