I am inspired particularly by textiles from the early to mid 20th century, especially the Bauhaus weavers. Art of the same period fires my creativity too, and this ceramic piece is a fusion of the two.

Full description
Handmade from black clay, with abstract art decoration, this piece works equally well as a vase or simply a statement piece of ceramic art. Each of my designs is a unique, original one-off piece. The outside is the natural matt finish of the unglazed black stoneware clay and features blocks of pastel colour, textured dimples, sgraffito lines and circles to my own design, with the motifs extending right around the form.. Inside I have used an iron lustre glaze to give a glossy finish with mingled colours of brown, black and blue. The piece is handmade slowly, dried over several days, and fired twice in my electric kiln to 1185 degrees C. Height is 18 cms and diameter of the base is 11 cms, so it will hold a generous bunch of fresh or dried flowers if you want to use it that way. One of my images shows how it looks with some dried hydrangea sprays from the garden.
