Mono is a collection of simple forms decorated with white on matt black clay. I loved the challenge of limiting myself to one colour only, and echoed the simplicity with linear motifs incised into the white vertical panels and bands. Interiors are glazed with iron-rich glazes which fire to muted shades. The designs are influenced by the 1930s designs of Edinburgh Weavers, a leading modernist textile company of the time.

Full description
A one-off small handmade ceramic vase for a pretty posy from your garden or country walks. It gives an arty look to your rooms when filled with white flowers to continue the black and white theme, or equally well with bright colours. I made the vase in black stoneware clay and textured some areas of the surface with a peach stone. I created panels of white slip and etched a twining design reminiscent of vine tendrils - this technique is known as sgraffito decoration. The interior and the textured panels are glazed in iron lustre finish with a surface gloss, while the rest of the vase is the natural finish of the black clay itself. 12.5cm high x 6.5cm diameter across the base. The base has my potter’s mark of a swallow in flight impressed into the clay before firing.
