I'm on holiday from 22nd September 2024 until 3rd October 2024 and my shop will closed during that time.
I’m influenced by the shapes of bottles in archaeological finds, particularly Minoan and other ancient Greek vessels. I like to give the forms a modern twist and decorate with contemporary designs influenced by the textiles of the 20th century and modern abstract art.

Full description
I handmade this curved flask bottle shape from black stoneware clay and decorated it with my own original design of colour blocks and stripes in pastel shades, with a simple curve motif in sgraffito. The design stretches around the bottle, and you can see the different front and back design in my images. Underneath is my potter’s mark of a swallow in flight impressed into the clay while it was still soft. The inside is glazed, but the outside is the matt grainy finish of the natural black clay and pastel slip decoration. So if you want to put in a little water and use it to display a single flower or posy, you can do so. It looks good as a focal point, or in a group with others from my collection. Each of my pieces is different in shape and style, so each is a one off original, though I like to create a series of pieces to a loose abstract theme – this one is a colour block and stripe theme in pink, ivory and green with sgraffito markings. The flask bottle stands at around 16 cm high, 9.5 cm wide and 5 cm deep.
