I made a piece years ago with a shell someone gave me, as I was finishing it it occured to me what a waste to close in that lovely secret space, For that one I made a little 'door' in the back, When I discovere these locket frames I began to make more, using limpets found on my local beach. The shells are thoroughly cleaned and polished to a soft shine.

Full description

A cream limpet shell, the shell is made into a locket by fixing a locket frame into the backing, the mount is created by stitching beads around the shell, onto a first layer of backing material, until the shell is firmly fixed, a 2nd layer of thin metal with a hole is added and then a final layer of white leather, the locket frame is fastened in place with copper wire 'stitching'. Once all the layers are in place the edge is finished with another row of beads and a final decorative row of tiny, vintage, seed beads in a pearly finish. Four loops of the same pearly seed beads create a hanging loop to suspend the locket from a siler wire torc.

The torc measures approximately 45cm and the locket is approximately 6cm across top to bottom and 4.5cm across.

A lovely delicate piece using natural materials and vintage beads.
