The colours shown in each picture may not be exactly as they appear in the artwork due to differences in the display modes of individual monitors and screens.

This was an opportunity to put the portraiture work done in my old art group into practice, with the help of a few classroom sketches, some accompanying photographs and a lot of practice. I particularly liked the short hair of this model, which meant her face was clear of obstructions so the structure would be prominent.

Full description

This drawing is a portrait of a female model looking directly at the 'camera'. although viewed from a more unusual angle than the regular full-face or three-quarter views often seen in portraiture.

The portrait measures 19.5 x 28.5 cm (or 28.5 x 36.5 cm including its black mount) in portrait format and was drawn on 135 gsm drawing paper using Faber Castell 9000 graphite pencils.

The drawing is derived from several sketches, photographs and some valuable tuition from the teacher at my old art group. As you can see from the little runestone in the bottom left corner, I was still working out how I wanted to sign my paintings and drawings at this point. Oh, and this is NOT Brigitte Nielsen.
