The 'Bird on a Perch' series had somewhat stalled and I figured it was about time to do another one after a range of landscapes. Having seen a few jays around while walking in local parks, I suppose it was a natural reaction to choose this little bird as the next in the series. The autumnal scene was appropriate for the time of year it was completed as well.

Full description
Typically, just after setting up this shop, work, life and everything else got in the way and I've barely put pencil to paper since. However, I've now finished this painting of a jay, the third in my 'Bird on a Perch' series, having got to the other end of all those interruptions. This painting is based on a reference photograph from BBC Countryfile magazine, a very useful source for such material.
It was painted on Clairefontaine Pastelmat paper using SAA pastel sticks for the background and Caran D'Ache pastel pencils for the details
The painting measures 24 x 34 cm without a mount.
