Inspiration for this piece came from a desire to hibernate away from the pressures of todays world and go inwards, into a deep safe place. I felt the Badger very much needed this too, and here in his burrow under the dreamland Oak tree, he can sleep peacefully and safely.
He stays connected with the outside world through the spirals that surround him as they reach up through the trunk of the Oak to the moon and stars, and universe.

Full description
A Safe Haven is a bespoke ceramic arch shaped wall hanging made from Earthenware clay and underglaze, and glazed for a durable finish. The image is of the Badger asleep and safe underground in his burrow under a dreamland tree. A full moon and little stars are imprinted in the clay, little leaves and a further 3 imprinted moons, waning, full and crescent are a part of the decoration in the burrow of the badger. A mushroom and stars add to further decoration, whilst the spiral connects the badger upwards into the dreamland tree, an Oak. The colouring of this piece is in soft blues and greens, merging together to give an ethereal feel. The piece is tactile to touch with the gentle imprints and badger that is a raised flat piece. The size is approx 7 and 3/4 " long by 7" wide, with a dangling leaf on wire on the bottom edge. There is a hook attached to the back for wall hanging
