Hi there and welcome to my shop. Here you will find old embroideries, vintage fabrics and sparkling remnants made into something pretty and practical once again.
I will be re-stocking slowly but surely after Christmas, so do keep coming back for a browse.
As I try to recycle where I can, your order will arrive wrapped in clean, recycled packaging from my hoard.
Thank you for visiting me at Folksy.
I found a lovely pile of cross stitch samplers at a table top sale in York, all stitched by the same lady, and never made up into anything. I am steadily working my way through them with some TLC. Some have been make up bags, others lavender bags, but this one really had to be a drawstring!
You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.

This beautiful vintage embroidery has an old fashioned winter scene of a child in the snow, feeding the birds. It is all in a tiny cross stitch sewn with such care, by an expert needlewoman. I wonder who she was? My idea when re-using it, was to make it into something which could be brought out every christmas, something which could hold all the memories of the year before. Perhaps it could be a replacement for a stocking, or a little Santa’s sack for a child. Could it be used as reusable wrapping ? Or simply to store the christmas decorations.
The stitching has been done on a textile called Aida, which is full of tiny holes as a guide for working the cross stitch. It has then been backed onto cotton, to give it some strength, but it is still a soft little bag.
The drawstring bag is 45 cm tall. The circular base is 70 cm diameter, and is stitched onto canvas to give it some body.
It closes with 2 fabric drawstrings, and is lined in blue polycotton.
The back and top drawstring sections are made from a brown and white striped linen, and it is finished off with my own embroidered name tag.
It likes a gentle hand wash in mild detergent, and hung on the line to dry. Please iron when slightly damp, or spray first with water.
I like to reuse. Your bag will be posted out in recycled wrapping from my hoard, and sent as Royal Mail 2nd class.
