Hi there and welcome to my shop. Here you will find old embroideries, vintage fabrics and sparkling remnants made into something pretty and practical once again. I re-stock slowly but surely, so do keep coming back for a browse.
As I try to recycle where I can, your order will arrive wrapped in clean, recycled packaging from my hoard.

I found the most wonderful collection of cross stitch samplers at a table top sale in York, just before lock down. The anonymous needlewoman had taken so much care with them all, but never used them in any way. I am trying to give them a pretty and practical use, so that many more people can enjoy her beautiful sewing skills.

Full description
I have made this pouch or make up bag from a fabulous little vintage embroidery sample. It features a pretty butterfly amongst the flower borders, and is sprinkled with little vintage buttons.The unusual combination of muted blues, greens and lilac embroidery thread make this little bag a bit special. It would make a lovely present for someone who is learning to embroider, for a vintage textile fan, or for someone who needs a virtual hug right now.
The cross stitch is embroidered onto a textile known as Aida or evenweave fabric, and is woven with tiny holes to make counting and stitching easier. This gives it an overall texture.
It is backed onto cotton to give it strength, but it is still a soft little bag.
It measures 20 cm across and 18 cm deep, and has a purple 20 cm long zip opening.
The front is embroidered with tiny cross stitches and scattered with vintage buttons, and there is a hook to hang it up somewhere special and admire the craftsmanship.
The back is made from blue denim, and the lining is a bottle green patterned vintage fabric.
It is finished off with my own embroidered label.
I like to reuse. Your bag will arrive wrapped in clean, recycled packaging from my stash. It will be posted out as Royal Mail 2nd class.
