I'm on holiday from 22nd September 2024 until 3rd October 2024 and my shop will closed during that time.
The Lunar Collection is very much a mid century modern decorative design, influenced by wallpapers and textiles of the 1950s and 1960s. I’ve used soft pastel shades with motifs of elliptical shapes and dots - the black background of the stoneware clay acts as a counterpoint to my chosen colour palette. To make each piece, I manipulate the clay while it is soft, apply coloured clay slips to create my design, allow to dry slowly, then fire twice with a final firing to 1185 degrees C. It’s a slow business, but you can’t hurry handmade ceramics!

A delightful home accessory from my Lunar Collection. This small ceramic bottle form is handmade from black stoneware clay, with soft pink and grey half moon motifs and dots. It looks pretty on a shelf, on a dressing table, coffee table, in your bathroom, or as a gift for someone who loves the individuality of handmade things. I like to leave the piece unglazed to give a matt finish to the natural colour of the stoneware clay itself, and to show off the decoration - my own original design with a nod to the mid century modern look. There are two different designs on the piece in different colourways and every piece I make is slightly different – each is a variation on my Lunar theme. Not watertight due to the grainy texture of the black stoneware clay. Approx10cm high and 5.5cm at the widest part of the base. Underneath is my potter’s mark of a swallow in flight impressed into the clay before firing.
