The black stoneware clay surface makes an ideal canvas for my abstract designs. The Ribbons Collection of vases look really stylish with all kinds of flowers, grasses or dried twigs and driftwood. Each vase in the collection is different in its decoration and each one is handmade and decorated.

Full description
A cool contemporary ceramic vase to set off your home décor! I work by hand with black stoneware clay, then decorate the surface with freeform streams of ribbon-like lines in shades of yellow, cream and white, which swirl right around the piece. The images show different views of the decorative effect and the design is fired into the clay. Inside I used an iron lustre glaze with tones of rust and blue, while the outside is left unglazed matt black clay to set off the colours of the abstract decoration. 18 cms high and 6.5 cms at the widest part of the oval base, which bears my potters’ mark of a swallow. This vase is called Josie.
