This small oil painting was one of a series of pictures that I created out of doors when I was painting on the hill every day as winter approached.
The weather on this particular day was dry but cloudy and there were still glowing autumn leaves on the tree perched perilously at the edge of the gill, or ravine.
Due to the cooler temperatures it was necessary to work quite quickly and the results could be surprising, often seeming quite abstract.

Full description
An oil painting measuring 15cm by 20cm or 6 by 8 inches, created out of doors or 'en plein air' in the Yorkshire Dales.
The picture is painted on a piece of canvas paper which is a thick textured paper specially made for oil paints. It would require an acid-free mount to keep it separated from the glass when framed.
