This painting was made during a time when I spent many evenings wandering on the Howgill Fells with my oil paints. The valley depicted was probably my favourite place to set up as it was a little way off the most popular walking routes but still had marvellous views. On a sunny evening like this one it was peaceful and delightful although the light did change quite quickly and I had to focus very hard in order to complete the picture before the shadows covered too much of the hills.

Full description
Here is an oil painting on canvas measuring 23cm by 30cm or 9 by 12 inches. This picture was created while painting out of doors in a beautiful valley in the Howgill Fells. It was a bright sunny evening which helped to keep me warm while I was working and which brought out many colours and shapes in the landscape.
The canvas is stretched over a wooden frame and stapled on the rear and there are D rings and a cord so that you can hang it straight on the wall if you like. Alternatively you could add a simple frame without glass.
Designed by H Colledge in Howgill Fells, Yorkshire Dales
