Living by the sea I collect all sorts of things, I hadn't thought about using pebbles but one day I found an absolutely perfect black oval and that was my first pebble pendant, this one is a lot thicker than the first one but it's a lovely shape and I thought a larger pebble might appeal to the chaps a bit more.
Lots of time spent drilling! I think it was worth it though.

Full description
A large natural pebble has been used to make this pendant, I found it on my local beach and it was such a lovely shape I decided to turn it into jewellery.
The pebble is lightly polished and drilled twice, I then hammered a piece of heavy silver wire to create the bail that suspends the pebble. Two short pieces of silver wire make the rivets, one end is melted into a blob and once they are put through the pebble and it's bail the other end is hammered flat, the blob is hammered flat too so it looks even.
I think the pebble is a variety of slate, there's quite a lot of that locally but I'm no geologist. It's a blue grey with tiny white flecks and touch of orangey brown on one side.
I deliberately left the bail looking rough and unfiinished as I felt that suited the natural stone.
The pendant hangs from a narrow, black leather thong, the thong is fastened with two sliding knots so it can be adjusted to the length that suits you.
The pebble measures about 4cm high and about 2.5 wide at the widest point. It can hang short, on the collar bones or roughly mid chest.
A unique piece of jewellery, there's no two pebbles exactly alike, this would suit men or women, quite a surfer vibe I think.
