This fan was in a sorry state when I received it, mechanical and electrical safety concerns dictated repurposing rather than refurbishment. A delve under the dirt and corrosion revealed a wonderful brass and cast iron starting point for a stunning lamp

Full description
This lamp really has the Wow factor, a table lamp made from an antique cast iron and brass desk fan.
Manufactured in Milan by Marelli, the fan is a Pampero 40cm (16”) model which was their catalogue between c 1907 and c 1920. I removed the dodgy old electrical parts and motor, stripped everything back to bare metal and gave the cast iron base and motor housing a coat of quality black gloss metal paint. The beautifully ornate brass guard has been cleaned up, re-soldered where required and polished. I made a brass centre hub for the 3 ES lampholders from parts of an old Tilley lamp, polished of course, and fitted a new toggle switch in the base.
2 metres of new high-quality gold braided period look flex, a 3a fused black UK plug and three 4-watt spiral filament LED bulbs complete a wonderfully ornate period centrepiece for any room.
