The idea is to create something new from old, the finished piece isn't meant to be perfect. Instead, retain marks, stains and scratches, part of the original character of the ceramic. All Sterling Silver is either recycled or repurposed and may also have imperfections or scratches.
Jewellery boxes are made from FSC®-certified cardboard and water-based glue. Jewellery box inserts are made from tall oil, a by-product of wood pulp industry. All paper, card, glue, inks and delivery boxes used are made from recycled materials.

I love collecting, especially things that have been discarded. Anything that looks lost, forgotten or damaged and not wanted any more. Favourite places of mine to discover bits is rivers or beaches. I am lucky to live near the River Tees, Co Durham and often walk the banks picking up broken glass, pottery anything that can be cleaned and re-created into something new. I love recycling centres and charity shops where I can find an old pot or plate, so many interesting pieces, bits and bobs of lives all waiting to find new homes.
For me using shards of ceramic found in rivers is interesting, exciting and a passion. I love the entire experience from walking, looking, peering into the water and discovering bits and bobs of all sorts. I’ve found many strange and amazing things. All shards used have a letter F for family and S for Shards and a number that relates to order of process.

Hand crafted Jewellery and framed artworks using pre loved and discarded ceramics. Ceramic material will show signs of wear. Created from ceramic discovered in
Thorsgill Beck, nr Barnard Castle May 2021
Re-Created into Earrings June 2021
In May 2021 while out walking Thorsgill Beck which runs into the River Tees, Barnard Castle, Co Durham I came across a small concentration of broken bits of pottery. A common practice of shoring up a river bank is to use hardcore that often has household ceramics crushed in. I particularly love finding bits of pot in rivers, I love the idea of old household unwanted ceramic being used, all those memories. Some bits will remain where dumped but a lot will move with the river which adds to the experience of discovering.
On this very sunny day I found quite a few pieces of plates in one concentrated spot in the beck. The pieces were dirty and looked lost in the water for a long time. After soaking some were still stained, others cleaned well and all came back to life.
These tiny earrings are made from a small shard that looked like a little plate/saucer, the colour is rich with an unusual intriguing pattern.
Both earrings show the same pattern but due to the nature of what they are made from and the journey the ceramic has made, each earring is individual. Small, chunky, the idea is to create something new from old, it’s not meant to be perfect.
Mounted on sterling silver 925 post and back.
Each earring measures approximately 9mm x 5mm x 3mm.
Delivered in gift box made from recycled materials with short bio.
