The idea is to create something new from old, the finished piece isn't meant to be perfect. Instead, retain marks, stains and scratches, part of the original character of the ceramic. All Sterling Silver is either recycled or repurposed and may also have imperfections or scratches.
Jewellery boxes are made from FSC®-certified cardboard and water-based glue. Jewellery box inserts are made from tall oil, a by-product of wood pulp industry. All paper, card, glue, inks and delivery boxes used are made from recycled materials.

I love collecting ceramic discarded, lost, forgotten, damaged or just not wanted any more. Favourite places are rivers and beaches, but also find great things at recycling centres and charity shops. I’m lucky to live near the River Tees, Co Durham and often walk the banks picking up broken glass, pottery anything that can be cleaned and re-worked and crafted into something new. Bits and bobs found by chance waiting to find new homes.

Unless faulty, the following types of items are non-refundable: items that are personalised, bespoke or made-to-order to your specific requirements; items which deteriorate quickly (e.g. food), personal items sold with a hygiene seal (cosmetics, underwear) in instances where the seal is broken; digital items.
Additional terms
Shards Hand crafted Jewellery and framed artworks using pre loved and discarded ceramics. Ceramic material will show signs of wear. Entire process is a creative experience from discovery to final picture, nothing planned or preconceived. All materials personally collected from river banks, charity shops, roadside, woods, recycle centres, beaches, wherever dropped, dumped or donated ceramics are found, cleaned and shaped into new stories. Each titled piece comes with bio of where the ceramic came from, known history, original information and when the artwork was created. Some ceramics collected are used as found, while others are cut randomly which will shape the final picture. Every piece is individual, nothing replicated, however, due to repetitive patterns in ceramics there will be some similarity but only through the ceramic material not in the final piece.

Handcrafted into Pendant

Walking The River Tees on a very wet last Saturday in January 2026 I came across a striking piece of ceramic, colourful and in good condition.
After a thorough clean I decided to make three small pendants but as always it's luck if the pottery breaks well and this time the material broke into two pieces instead.
I managed to drill a hole in each and although the glaze is scratched the surface has polished to a lovely shine. This pendant is the more colourful, catching the pink of the flower and a little bit of green. I followed the shape that formed when broken which has created a different style.
Front glaze in tact with tiny scratches, sides, backs smoothed and sealed with Eco Friendly sealant.
The idea is to create something new from old and use recycled materials to produce unique gifts. The finished piece isn’t meant to be perfect but instead retain part of the original character, including marks and scratches, all part of the history of the ceramic and materials used.
Shard approximately 30 mm x 16 mm (widest)x 4mmHanging on black woven cord 44 cm, sterling silver ends and clasp.
Delivered in gift box made from FSC®-certified cardboard and water-based glue. Presented on Jewellery box insert made from tall oil, a by-product of paper production. Sustainable gifts, complete with short bio and gift bag.
