This tall slim black stoneware ceramic vase with an intriguing off-centre profile can make a lovely vase for delicate flowers or grasses, can stand alone, or make a feature with others from my Lunar range as seen in one of the images. For the photograph, I picked some cuckoo flowers and other whispy pink blooms from my garden. I’ve called this vase Sienna, and used black stoneware clay to create an informal slim cylindrical shape with a slight lean to it, glazed on the interior with a russet brownish black shiny glaze. The outside shows the natural matt black surface of the clay, and I’ve added elliptical half-moon shapes in soft pastel shades of pink, lemon and grey highlighted with a series of dots which continue around the back of the form. This is my own design, influenced by mid century modern textiles and wallpapers. Sienna is 21 cms tall, with an angled lean to the height, and approximately 4 cms diameter at the base.
