I have been playing with fusing silver wire to copper for a while now, but every January for the last few years I have visited an activity hotel near Okehampton, I made some enamelled pieces there and wondered if I could enamel the copper and silver pieces. This is one of the first ones I tried. The result is not what I expected but that fits with the unpredictable nature of these pieces. The tutor last year told me he could adjust the temperature of one of the kilns next time so I would have better results. We'll see what happens if I can go this coming January.

Full description
A circular copper pendant with silver wire fused to it in a star shape, the pendant then has blue enamel applied to the bare copper that was left after fusing. When the piece is put into an enamelling kiln it is heated to around 800 degrees, this has an interesting and unpredictable effect and the silver melts further and flows across the copper, almost entirely covering it, the enamel has only adhered in two places, from the left hand top point of the star across half the centre and on the right hand top point of the star. The silver has created granular textures in places, melting silver has a tendency to form spheres. The enamel is a bright blue which takes on a greenish tinge where the silver is closer to the surface. The star is a five pointed one, with one point at the top, it's not a strict geometric star but quite a loose style. The silver has spilled over onto the reverse of the circle. The pendant measures approximately 2.5 cm across. It hangs by a copper jump ring on a narrow, dark brown, leather thong, the thong is adjustable for length by two sliding knots, maximum length approximately 66 cm.
