I am happy to wrap and send gifts direct to recipients with a note - just specify their delivery address when you check out (I use track 24 or special delivery so you can follow it round the country to the recipient). Full description
These drop fordite earrings feature oblongs of subtly banded fordite hanging beneath a square stud top in sterling silver finished with a silver post and large scroll. The fordite is bezel set in sterling silver and has a distorted bullseye in white, grey, silver and black with a single ring of bright yellow, the setting is open backed so you can see the different pattern on the back.
So what is fordite? Well its cured car paint that built up in the old manual spray booths at car plants layer by layer as each vehicle was painted. I believe this particular material came from either Ford's Hazelwood or Kansas City plant in the 2000's. (The colours are consistent with the range for transit vans during that period which would explain all the white). The painting method that produced fordite has been phased out for much safer and efficient methods so no (or very little) fordite is produced and it is becoming increasingly difficult to source so if you are a petrol head I'd get some whilst you can. I cut a lot of my fordite myself (but not the pair in these earrings) so if you like the idea but not this piece drop me a message and we can discuss me making you that extra special piece.
Drop from stud post approx 1 3/8 inches, total design about 1 1/2 inches by 3/8 inches, the large scrolls have a sterling silver centre and plastic surround, if you would prefer standard scrolls let me know. Comes gift boxed.
