This is a linocut, designed, handcut, inked and hand printed by myself, burnishing on the back of the paper with a wooden spoon to produce the image. As such, each print will vary slightly and may not be 100% the same as the one in the photographs.
The paper measures approximately 19 x 14 cms with deckled edges.
The total edition run is 80. The prints are numbered, titled and signed in the traditional manner in pencil underneath the image. V.E simply means "varied edition". In this case that means that the edition comes in 4 different colours: 20 each in red, ochre, blue and graphite ( a very dark grey). Please let me know which colour you wish to buy.
The prints will be sent wrapped in a cellophane sleeve in a cardboard backed envelope.
I have mounted prints if you prefer, wrapped in a cellophane sleeve, but these are more expensive. Please get in touch if you prefer this option. My listing here is only for unmounted prints.
I have made several paintings of hens, most of which have been based on drawings I make in my sketchbooks when I visit the local wildfowl park in Broughshane village. I wanted to try a linocut of a simple chicken in a graphic, bold style, and hope to do more birds like this soon.
