Charoite is a complex silicate mineral found only in Siberia, featuring beautiful swirling patterns of lavender, violet, lilac, white and grey-black.
The stone has a silky lustre and occasional chatoyancy.
Amethyst is the birthstone for Aquarius and February, and the stone for the 6th and 17th wedding anniversaries.
It is also associated with St Valentine, who was believed to wear an amethyst ring engraved with a cupid to enable young soldiers to recognise him.
Emperor Claudius 11, believing married men made bad soldiers, had forbidden soldiers to wed, but Valentine would conduct secret marriage ceremonies.
Labradorite is a feldspar mineral that exhibits 'labradorescence' (flashes of electric blue/green) in the light.
It was once believed that this flash was the Northern Lights captured in the stone, leading to the belief that the stone has many mystical properties and associations with intuition, self awareness and the awakening of the inner spirit.

Full description
This beautiful, glittering necklace has a centrepiece of five 8mm natural Charoite stones separated by faceted Amethyst, Labradorite and Pyrite beads that give a lovely sparkle.
The Charoite beads are natural and undyed, polished to a silky lustre and show the typical swirled patterns of lilac, violet and silvery white of this unusual stone.
Each Charoite bead is separated by AAA grade faceted gemstone beads, a 4.5mm central Amethyst, flanked by a pair of 3.5mm Labradorite and all highlighted with tiny 2mm Pyrite beads.
A row of five A grade 4mm Amethyst rounds leads to another grouping of faceted beads, before 4mm Amethyst beads lead to a Tibetan silver leaf toggle clasp.
Handmade in my home workshop here in beautiful Devon in the UK, this would make a lovely gift for a birthday, anniversary, Valentine's or mother's day.
It would be particularly suitable for a February birthday, as Amethyst is the birthstone for the month of February and the Zodiac sign Aquarius.
This necklace measures approximately 17 inches (43cm), although the length of most of my necklaces can be altered on request.
Your necklace will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a pretty organza gift bag.
