February Birthstones - Amethyst and Jasper
March Birthstone - Aquamarine
These delicate shells make beautiful, lightweight, easy to wear earrings.
The folklore and legends surrounding many gemstones fascinate me, so I am very drawn to these natural shell gemstones with their spiral pattern and string of romantic names.
Sailors and fisherman have long used these shells as a protective talisman at sea and a symbol of good luck and prosperity.
After all, who could resist the protection of a God, or the contents of a mermaid's purse?
Contains small parts, not suitable for children

Each dainty drop earring features a 10x8mm Shiva Eye Shell bead, topped with a 5mm cream shell bead and a pair of 4x3mm copper plated Hematite rondelles, and highlighted with 2mm copper spacers,
The beads are threaded onto copper pins and hung from copper ear-wires.
Shiva Eye shell is steeped in folklore,
The shell forms a protective 'door' at the opening of the Turban Snail shell, which detaches at the end of the snails life and falls to the sea bed.
They are most common in the beaches and shallow waters of Indonesia and Thailand, but are also found all over the world.
Around Indonesia it is known as 'Shiva Eye', a symbol of the God Shiva's third eye. As such it is seen as a sacred object of spiritual awakening and enlightenment.
As with most 'eyes', it is believed to protect the wearer, ward off evil, bring good luck and prosperity.
Other names for this beautiful piece of natural geometry are 'Pacific cat's eye', 'mermaid's money', 'the eye of Naxos' and 'tears of Lucy'.
