This piece was chosen for its quiet strength rather than ornament. The side-profile carving immediately set it apart, offering a sense of inward focus rather than direct engagement with the viewer.
The contrast between the finely carved face and the retained tree bark surface felt important. Rather than disguising its material origins, the piece carries them openly, allowing raw texture and human form to exist together.
This work has not been altered. The act of making here lies in selection, placement, and framing — recognising the object as a sculptural presence rather than decorative artefact. The intention was to allow the piece to be seen with fresh attention, valued for form, material, and restraint.

Full description
This is a vintage hand-carved sculptural wall object, selected for its strong side-profile form and the natural contrast between carved face and rough tree bark surface.
Carved in profile rather than facing the viewer directly, the piece carries a quiet, inward presence. The exposed bark remains integral to the work, framing the smoother carved areas and emphasising the transition between raw material and human form.
Presented as a sculptural object rather than decorative wall art, this piece is intentionally unaltered. The authorship lies in the selection, curation, and framing of the object as a contemporary wall sculpture.
It works best when given space to breathe and suits a single statement wall rather than a clustered display. It sits particularly well in calm, neutral interiors and pairs naturally with materials such as wood, stone, linen, and plaster.
Soft, indirect lighting brings out the depth of the carving and the texture of the bark without overpowering the form.
This is a one-of-a-kind vintage piece.
