I was drawn to this mask for its gentleness. There’s a calm inwardness to it — a feeling of rest rather than vigilance. It doesn’t project outward or ask to be interpreted. It simply stays.
I didn’t want to change or enhance it. It already knew how to be what it is. My role was only to recognise that presence and offer it onward, intact, to someone who will feel it in their own way.

Full description
This is a vintage hand-carved wooden mask, chosen for how it feels to live with rather than how it performs.
The face is long and softened, with closed or lowered eyes and a gentle expression that feels inward and calm. There’s nothing dramatic here — no demand for attention — just a quiet presence that settles into a space slowly. The carving feels unhurried, as though it was made with patience rather than precision, allowing the form to emerge in its own time.
What stands out most is the sense of ease. The mask doesn’t watch or guard in a forceful way; it accompanies. It brings a subtle warmth to a wall and a feeling of steadiness without instruction or symbolism needing to be explained.
The surface carries the natural marks of hand-carving and age, which add to its softness and depth. Nothing has been altered or reworked. It is offered as it is — complete, settled, and comfortable in itself.
Within an inner altar or personal space, this piece acts as a quiet companion — something you notice over time rather than all at once. It supports stillness, reflection, and a sense of being gently held.
