I’m drawn to objects that feel like they are keeping watch rather than performing. This mask was chosen and curated for its stillness — the elongated form, the quiet symmetry, the sense of being present without needing to be explained.
To me, it feels like a threshold piece. Something that marks a pause between spaces, between noise and quiet, between the outer world and what’s held within. It doesn’t tell a story loudly. It holds one patiently.
This is the kind of object that belongs where you slow down — near an altar, at the end of a hallway, or in a space where reflection happens naturally. It carries a grounded, protective energy that feels steady rather than dramatic. A reminder to arrive, to breathe, to notice.

Full description
This vintage large hand-carved wooden mask is a collected ceremonial-style piece with a strong guardian presence. Tall, elongated, and quietly watchful, it carries the kind of still authority that doesn’t ask for attention — it holds it.
Carved from solid wood and finished in natural earth tones, the surface shows gentle signs of age and handling that speak to its life before now. The elongated form, stylised facial features, and natural fibre detailing reflect traditional African ceremonial influences, where masks were created not as decoration, but as symbolic objects connected to protection, transition, and spiritual presence.
At approximately 78 cm tall, this is a statement wall piece. It works best when given space — hung alone, allowed to breathe, and met slowly rather than glanced at in passing.
This is calm, grounded, and collectors piece— suited to spaces that value depth, ritual, and atmosphere.
