A friend asked me if I could make a print for her sister's birthday. They used to visit the City often as youngsters and she particularly liked the industrial architecture and history. I had recently visited Manchester and wandered round taking photos and after looking through some we both decided on the Castlefield shot would make a good subject.

Full description

Limited edition of 20 prints. Handprinted with Caligo Safewash inks onto various Printmaking papers, Liber Charta, Canaletto and Hosho. Each print comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Castlefield is the terminus of the world's first industrial canal, the Bridgwater, a 39 mile canal used to transport coal between Runcorn, Leigh and Manchester and the only lock-less canal in Britain, built in 1764 for the Duke of Bridgwater and engineered by James Brindley.
