A frequent walk from home in Delph, Dobcross is a pretty, small village within the Saddleworth area. Early spring reveals a meadow full of buttercups leading up from Dobcross New Road to Holy Trinity Church. I remember as a child holding a buttercup beneath my friend's chin to see if the yellow reflected strongly, if it did, they surely liked butter, must be true.

The church is grade II listed and was built in 1787.
