I am a retired hot metal compositor, artworker and latterly graphic designer. I live and make my prints in my small studio in Delph, Saddleworth. I hand-draw all my prints in the first instance before transferring onto lino boards which I then carve and eventually hand-print limited edition, reduction prints and single colour, using a ball-bearing baren or wooden spoon. I tend to print onto Awagami Masa or Hosho printmaking paper as I find them more suitable for hand printing and use Cranfield Caligo Safe Wash inks.
My main interests are landscape and wildlife, but I also love interesting architecture. Many of my prints start from photographs I take on my travels.
I have always loved painting and drawing but didn't know much about printmaking as an artform until relatively recently, even after all my years in the printing industry!
On closer inspection into printmaking I decided to enrol onto an introduction to linoprinting class in Sheffield and after that 1 lesson was completely hooked. I think linoprinting is the most accessible and least messy of printmaking techniques. It really appealed because I could originally make everything from my kitchen table without too much mess.
Although I generally hand-print my work, I have recently purchased a small pooki press to experiment with.

The cards are lovely, just what I was after for some birthday cards. The package arrived super fast and even had an extra card in for me of a fairly local scene. Would recommend.
