Listening to a selection of novels by Karen Maitland during the summer of 2023 I was struck by the characters she brought to life in her stories. In one novel there was a little seer who used the Runes and I based this ceramic loosely on her and called her Rune Girl. My little rune girl is full of the stars and the magic of the universe, she throws up in the air three runes to offer guidance. The runes she holds are from the top, Ansuz for communication & true visions, middle Tiwaz for leadership, action and honour and bottom Raidho for journey. These are runes from The Elder Futhark script which was used in Scandinavia until around 700 CE. This little Rune girl is the last of only two made.

Full description
Rune Girl figure cut from Earthenware clay with a crescent moon attached with kiln wire making it stable but the moon does not move. The Rune Girl has shaken and thrown 3 runes into the air and wears a gown of blue as blue as the sky with stars adorning it and an all seeing Seer's eye at the bottom edge. The detail on the rune girl is all hand drawn and is approx 4.3/4" H x 1.3/4" W and comes with a white cotton cord attached to a hook behind. Please do not hang outside this is not frost proof, nor is it a toy.
