Bayong Wood
Bayong Wood comes from the Afzelia Rhomboidea tree which is native to The Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia. It is a slow growing, strong, hard wood with decorative graining throughout and thus used for diverse purposes e.g. house building and jewellery bead making. Wooden beads are often a focus for meditation, prayer and ritual purposes. Bayong wood in particular, because of its shades of red and brown, is said to represent Mother Earth. It is also a sustainable material choice and valued spiritually for focusing the mind.

These unusual long hexagonal Bayong baguette 35mmx12mm beads are the star of the show in this composition. The hexagonal sides are completely flat and smooth, beautifully tactile, feel light on the skin and are warm and rich in colour and markings. They are interspersed with the black glinting lustre of 12mm Hematite round smooth beads in a central position, and finished each end by an 8mm texturised closed gold plated link and 6mm faceted Hematite bead. Gold plated chain continues each side for approximately 10.5cm and then linked to the toggle and clasp. The necklace is designed to sit relatively closely to the throat and drops e.g. approximately 1inch on 16inch neck size. It’s a comfortable, stylish and chic piece representing the native diversity of earth materials. This is a unisex necklace and suitable for anyone. Comes as ever in a well presented Catpurr branded Gift Box.
