Agate
First discovered in Achates, Sicily, agate has been used for centuries to make jewellery, seal stones, and decorative objects of all kinds. Mainly found in volcanic and metamorphic rocks, it is prized for its layered banding, and circular stranding patterns. Agate is said to symbolise protection, strength and courage.
Pyrite
Pyrite otherwise known as ‘Fools Gold’ has been named so because it resembles gold to the untrained eye. At 6.5 on the Mohs scale it is harder than gold and highly abundant, found in many types of different rock formations. Pyrite is said to be a highly protective stone to the wearer especially in Thai culture where it is thought to ward off negative energy. It is also said to be a crystal of manifestation; attracting wealth, good luck and good fortune. It is also a good crystal for the zodiac star sign of Leo, bringing the golden power of the Sun, energy, joy and power.

A large 2cmx1.5cm Grey Polished Agate Column Stone is the centrepiece of this grouping of 5 beads on a black silk double choker cord. The simplicity of this piece allows the beautiful markings of the Agate, which are almost ‘tree ring’ like in formation to be the focus. To call this column ‘grey agate’ doesn't do the colour justice at all; it’s a beautiful semi opaque caramel grey contrasting dark inclusions and circular markings. This main stone is sandwiched in between 1 Golden 12mm Faceted Pyrite round bead alongside a 1cmx0.8mm Burned Orange polished Agate oval bead to the left and right. The Faceted Pyrite beads catch and glint in the light, and the oval Burned Orange Agate beads taper the collection off nicely.
