The Northern Lights always fascinate me, nature’s light show is amazing. Here in the UK we have been lucky enough to see them recently and yet despite visits to Scandinavia, I have yet to see them in action, but long for the night I do. In the meantime I dream and create an inspired version within my art, often coupled with snow, mountains and woodlands.

Northern Lake by Victoria Fletcher, 2024
Inspired by Scandinavian scenery and the Northern Lights, this painting aims to capture the prettiness of the aurora borealis behind a mountain scene. I imagined staying in a cosy log cabin within the woods. As the evening sets in there is time for one last look across the lake to the mountains and this is when you see the Northern Lights. Green, pink and purple hues alight the indigo sky just as the snow begins to fall once more.
The painting itself is 10cm diameter, created on a circular stretched canvas, using acrylic paints and inks, before being varnished with gloss and framed in an 18 x 18 cm wooden box frame.
The artwork will be presented in a brown box on arrival, with recycled cardboard strips to cushion its transport. This allows for a secure transport and the easy wrapping if it is to be a gift.
It is advised that the painting is not kept in a room that is subject to high humidity such as a laundry room or bathroom.
